Komtes Group has developed a new UL listed silent nozzle for its clean agent-based fire protection systems. This component provides additional protection for sound pressure sensitive equipment (such as data centers and electronic, computer or communications equipment racks).
Despite the primary goal of firefighting is to protect people and extinguish the fire, there is an increasing need to preserve sensitive assets from the side effects of a fire. The noise generated during a discharge may be one, and it can damage IT equipment, that are turning into key elements in any industry due to their increasing complexity and strategic value.
For these reasons, the consequences of an incident go beyond the economic cost: downtime and interruption of service, replacement of damaged equipment, loss of positioning, impact on other business processes, etc. Certain activities are very sensitive to these consequences, too (banks, IT, communications, trading, critical facilities, etc.). Therefore, providing adapted and proved solutions to our customers is essential: effective against fire, gentle on property.
Komtes Group improved the performance of its clean agent-based systems when developed the patented RGS-MAM-RD-11 Constant Flow Tech. valve. It was approved according to the fire industry most relevant independent bodies (FM, UL, VdS, LPCB) and provides a regulated, controlled and safer discharge. In addition, we have developed and certified the SALCxx silent nozzle to enable:
- Reduced sound limits, as recommended by the main IT manufacturers (from 130 to 110 dB).
- Reduced sound level compared to other manufacturers (from 110 to 100 dB).
This component is multi-purpose and very versatile, as it can be added to existing FSS systems with no modifications or additional works. It offers the largest approved coverage in the market, up to 10x10m and 7.10m height with a single nozzle, and is available in sizes DN15, DN20, DN25 and DN32 for full radial or semicircular discharges (360º or 180º).
